2-day Hand Guided Classes For New Owners
Denise Gmeiner
10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Day 1: Maintenance: oiling, changing the needle, check spring, bobbin tension, adjusting the hopping foot, bobbin winder O-ring, parking the machine and care of table/tracks.

We will also go over basic business operation including: taking in quilt tops, measuring, deciding on patterns, setting prices, batting choices, and backings.

After lunch we will spend time introducing you to a new tool, the Pantograph Planner which will include stacking, nesting and shifting patterns.

Day 2: will begin with finishing off discussion of the Pantograph Planner, then moving into designing borders, block inserts, corner inserts, echoing, stippling, cross-hatching/Gam Guide and different tool options for Stitch in the Ditch work, freehand sashings, and ending with threads and tensions.

Throughout the 2 days of training you will receive many additional tips from questions asked by other students, and from Denise’s years of experience!

About Denise Gmeiner – Denise has quilted on a Gammill Classic Plus for 8-years and in 2009 added an Optimum Statler Stitcher to her business, A-Stitch-in-Faith. She has been teaching beginning hand guided longarm quilting classes for new owners (some times referred to as “Intermediate Classes”) at Accomplish Quilting, Inc. for the past 6-years. She also teaches the first day of the new owner Statler Stitcher/Creative Studio class. Participate in one of these classes and you will find that the longarm quilting business that she runs from the basement of her Niles, Michigan home provides her with loads of practical experience to share with her students. Denise has won several local awards for her quilting highlighted by a national award at MQS 2009 in the Traditional Whole Cloth category for her quilt “Taking Flight”.

3-day Statler Stitcher Creative Studio Classes Denise

10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Day 1: Maintenance: oiling, changing needles, check spring, bobbin tension, adjusting the hopping foot, bobbin winder O-ring, bedding and diapering machine, and care of table/tracks.

We will go over basic business operation including: taking in quilt tops, measuring, deciding on patterns, setting prices, batting choices, and backings.

Also, we will spend time on some of our machines interchanging different types of threads so that you remove the tension from tension problems!

Days 2 and 3: Will be with Tammy reviewing terms and icons, E2E, and while working in groups completing a custom project. In the custom project you will work with border corners and borders (both top, bottom, and sides), 8 Pt. Star Diamonds (2 different methods), large triangles, P2P lines and patterns, fan block, double wedding ring pattern, radiating lines with regulated mode, 4 star corner blocks, setting triangles, blocks with background and inside trims, and recording patterns.

Throughout the 2 days of training you will receive many additional tips from Tammy’s 17-years of longarm quilting experience!

About Tammy Finkler – Tammy has been quilting professionally since 1991. She began free-motion quilting on her Bernina sewing machine, moving on to long-arm quilting machines in 1995 and then added a Statler Stitcher in 2005.

She was recently featured in an episode of TheQuiltShow.com with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims where she provided step-by-step guidance on the process of designing intricate whole cloth quilting designs.

A Michigan resident, Tammy runs a full time machine quilting and digitized pattern business from her studio located in a remodeled “old barn” on her families operating farm.

Many of her original whole cloth quilts have won awards in national shows, including Best of Show at MQX 2006, 1st place Whole Cloth Traditional at MQS 2006, the Gammill Long Arm Award at the AQS show in Paducah in 2007 and 1st in Merit Quilting-Machine at IQA in Houston in 2008.
