Horizontal Channel Lock
Secure your machine so it can only be moved in a straight line in the horizontal direction.
Sew What? In loading a quilt, you will primarily use the Horizontal channel lock to align and stitch the top edge of the quilt top straight to the backing and batting. This is a valuable tool in the first step of loading and squaring up the quilt.
Vertical Channel Lock
Secure your machine so it can only be moved in a straight line in the vertical direction.
Sew What? You will primarily use the Vertical channel lock in loading a quilt to baste the sides of the quilt and square it up. Another use that you will have with both Horizontal and Vertical channel locks is to use them to do stitch in the ditch or cross hatching. Finally, you can lock both the Horizontal and Vertical channel locks at the same time to hold the machine in one location so you can do some stationary sewing.
Low Bobbin Alert
This sensor provides an audible alert in the event that the top thread breaks, or when the bobbin thread runs out.
Sew What? The audible alert lets you know that the sewing process has been disrupted and you should stop sewing. This is particularly helpful when you are following patterns with the laser light and not looking directly at the needle.
Run Time Clock
Keeps track of the actual sewing time on the machine.
Sew What? Its fun to look back and see the amount of time you have sewn on your Gammill.
4-Year Parts/4-Years Labor Limited Warranty
On sewing head applies even if the machine is used for commercial purposes.

Optional equipment, tables and cross tracks carry a 1-year limited parts and labor warranty.

Other parts would not be under warranty if there is damage due to accident, misuse, negligence, or if serviced by an unauthorized person.

Unauthorized after-market installations void the warranty as well.
Sew What? You have the comfort of knowing that if an electrical or mechanical component fails, it will be replaced at no charge when you bring your machine to an authorized dealer or Gammill for service. This warranty does not cover normal wear parts.
Dual Control Long Arm Sewing Head
Dual control handles provide for the machine to be operated from either the front or back of the sewing head. Just move the Vision screen to the side of the machine you would like to sew from.
Sew What? You will make frequent use of the front handles for free motion and custom quilting while the back handles will be used for pantograph quilting.
Automatic Thread Escapement
Allows the thread to pass through the escapement without resistance. This eliminates unnecessary wear on the thread and reduces thread breakage and fraying.
Sew What? It costs you time and affects the quality of your quilting when you have to re-thread your needle, tie off and restart your quilting.
Molded Multi-Function Gam Foot
Sew What? Is designed to make it easy for you to use ¼” thick plexiglass rulers and templates. The height of the foot can also be adjusted for proper stitch formation or to effortlessly handle extra thick seems.
“Stylaser” Laser Light, with Top and Bottom Laser Mounts
The stylaser is used to follow a pantograph pattern from the back of the machine, or to follow a block pattern from the front of the machine.
Sew What? If you have not yet mastered the art of free motion quilting, you can still get nice results by following attractive pre-printed patterns using the stylaser.
Vertical Small Spool Holder
The cone holder has a spool pin extension to hold smaller cones of thread. This is best used with threads that are cross wound onto the spool.
Sew What? This allows you to use smaller spools of specialty thread that are commonly available at most sewing stores
T-Bracket for holding the stylaser
Conveniently located on the side of the machine is a T-Bracket and pin to hold the stylaser when doing pantographs. The pin is also used with the Gammill Work Station.
Sew What? You will find that the Work Station and Pantographs are easy to use and that they are a quick way to begin making productive use of your machine.
Specially Designed Vertical Wheels
Originally manufactured for military aircraft brake and control systems, these high quality (ISO 9001:2000 and AS 9100 Rev. B) bearing mounted wheels are mounted vertically to ensure a smooth non-binding movement of the sewing head.
Sew What? You will find that the smooth non-binding movement of the sewing head enables you to move the machine with minimal resistance thus making it seem effortless to sew precise smooth flowing designs including small well-rounded circles.
Dual Thread Capability
Allows for the use of two spools of thread at once
Sew What? You can use two different threads to mix colors and obtain that extra special look that you want for your quilt top.
Auxiliary Intermittent Tension
Assists the machine in making consistently beautiful locking stitches while minimizing the friction applied to the thread. As the take-up lever reaches the top of its stroke, the Intermittent Tension adds a little extra tension to the top thread providing for the locking stitch to be pulled tighter and deeper into the batting. When the locking stitch isn’t being pulled tight, a little less tension is applied to the top thread allowing it to pass with less friction through the tension device
Sew What? Your quilts will have beautifully defined stitches with minimal wear on the thread. Minimizing the friction and wear on thread is essential when you desire to sew with specialty threads such as: monofilament, trilobal polyester, water soluble, metalics, etc.
Standard 12’ or optional 14’ Stand Length
A 12’ stand has a quilting area of 128” which is enough room to quilt a king size quilt. Upgrading to a 14’ stand will give you a quilting area of 152” which would allow you to quilt a California King or a quilted bedspread. The 14’ and Custom stand lengths (either shorter or longer) are also available (for an extra $195).
Sew What? You decide what length of stand will fit your room, or will accommodate the size of quilts you think you will be quilting.
All Steel Frame with Powder Coated Finish
For Lasting Protection - The steel frame has a durable hammer tone powder coated finish which resists scratches.
Sew What? The quilting frame provides for solid support and smooth handling of the sewing head and framework to hold the quilt layers for even the largest quilts, without the roller bars bowing, as they are being quilted.
Sturdy Fabric Handling Rollers
With Powder Coated Finish for Lasting Protection – On these heavy duty stands the rollers are 2 1/2 “ diameter schedule-2 steel pipe with a durable hammer tone powder coated finish which resists scratches. The rollers are supported by commercial pillow block bearings and are more resistant to bending and bowing than smaller rollers made of lighter steel.
Sew What? The roller bars provide solid support to hold the quilt layers for even the largest quilts without the roller bars bowing as they are being quilted. This makes it much easier to keep your quilt square.
Hemmed Heavy-Duty Canvas Leaders
Are made with 10 oz. canvas for many years of use.
Sew What? The 10 oz. Canvas with hemmed edges is durable, will not fray and will withstand the pinning and quilting of thousands of quilts.
Rollers advance easily
With the use of hand wheels and easy to turn pillow block bearings.
Sew What? With just a light hand pressure you are able to advance your quilt, or roll it backwards.
Smudge-Free Wheel Track System
The stainless steel track that the wheels travel over is recessed in an aluminum channel.
Sew What? This keeps your quilt away from dust, lint and oil that may accumulate on the tracks.
Pivotal Access
Provides for easy access to straighten the quilt layers (backing, batting and the back side of the quilt top) as the quilt is advanced on the frame.
Sew What? Pivotal Access allows you easy access to the layers of the quilt so you can smooth out wrinkles or remove dark threads between the layers before quilting. It is also very handy for adding an extra layer of batting for trapunto quilts.
“Sit or Stand” Roller Adjustment
Provides ample leg/knee room to sit at the front of the machine and quilt.
Sew What? This is ideal for when you are doing detailed work like background fill techniques, or individual block work. Whether your feet and legs are fatigued at the end of a day or from a lifetime of work it is nice to know you can quilt in a comfortable seated position.
One-Step Elevation System for Adjusting the Fabric Pick-Up Roller
By the simple turn of one handle the height of the pick-up roller can be adjusted.
Sew What? This makes it easy to raise both ends of the pickup roller when you advance the quilt as this causes the pickup roller to become larger in diameter.
High Density Poly Table Top
With attractive hammer tone black color
Sew What? Has a toothed rail surface for anchoring the Work Station and Optional Design Center.
Plastic Pantograph Pattern Shield
Is a plastic protector or cover for the pantograph pattern that is being used on the table top. It also keeps the pattern from shifting.
Sew What? It keeps your valuable pattern in place, clean and protected from coincidental wear or mishaps during use.
Engraved Table Top Markings
For Aligning Roll Patterns – There are markings machined into the table top for aligning roll patterns along the length of the table.
Sew What? Engraved Table Top Markings make it easy to align your pantograph patterns parallel to the pickup roller and your quilt top. Because the marks are engraved into the table top they will not wear off from use the way that surface markings may.
Table Top is marked in 1” and 12” increments.
Sew What? This makes it easy for you to use the table top as a measuring tool. These markings are also useful in equally spacing paper patterns or the work station on your table.
Adjustable Height Stand Capabilities
The stand can be set up at an ergonomically correct height for any owner.
Sew What? Setting up the stand at the proper height allows you to be in a position to do your best work on a quilt top while reducing fatigue and standing with proper posture.
Batting Bar
Allows for storage of folded rolls of batting under the stand. It can also hold non-folded rolls that can be directly fed from the batting bar into your quilt layers.
Sew What? Your batting is conveniently located to support your quilting activities while making a relevant use of the space underneath the quilting frame.
Operator’s Manual
A comprehensive easy to read manual that is included with each machine purchase.
Sew What? You do not have to go online to print out the manual for easy reference.
2-Hour step-by-step instructional Training
Viewed for free from the Gammill website it provides basic instructions for operating Gammill longarm quilting machines and accessories. For those that do not have internet access, a DVD version can be purchased for $10.00.
Sew What? These well documented instructions includes: features of the stand, operation of the machine, preparation before quilting, loading the quilt, pantograph quilting, using the accessories and free motion quilting. It is a good reference resource if you have questions or uncertainties as a new owner.
Extended Throat Plate
Provides an extension to the throat plate for support of the rulers and templates frequently used by longarm quilters.
Sew What? The extra support of the extended throat plate will help you to more accurately trace around templates or use rulers such as the Gam-Guide Jr. for “stitch-’n-the-ditch work.
Gam Guide Junior
Is used from the front of the machine as a guide to sew straight lines. This tool is particularly useful for "stitch in the ditch" sewing.
Sew What? You will use the Gam Guide Jr. to make the piecing in the quilt really stand out when “stitched-’n-the-ditch”.
3 – Linda Taylor Paper Pantograph Pattern Sets
Allow for the use of the laser light to follow pantograph patterns from the back of the machine.
Sew What? The machine comes with simple and attractive patterns for you to use to quickly become productive. These patterns were designed for you by world famous longarm quilter Linda V. Taylor.
Work Station with Circle/Oval Template
Sew What? You use this tool to precisely place near perfect circles and ovals on your quilts. Quilters often further embellish these shapes by adding feathers, leaves and so forth around these basic shapes.
Touch Screen and Software
Easy to use, full-color, LCD touch screen is the same screen that is used on video gaming devices so it is built though. The software was custom designed by Gammill with the quilter in mind and then tested by quilters!
Sew What? The machine hardware and software is designed to be easy to use and withstand rigorous use by quilters’.
On-Board Memory System
Allows you to save your individual settings and update the machine with new features.
Sew What? You can customize the machine operating parameters to suit your personal tastes. Further, the on board memory will allow for your machine to be updated as Gammill continues to develop exciting new features for this system.
Stitch Regulated
Means that your stitches will be the same length no matter how fast or slow you move the sewing head.
Sew What? With the push of a single button you can regulate the stitches to your tastes from 8 to 24 stitches per inch. This is great for helping beginning quilters to get attractive and highly desirable even length stitches. With the regulated stitch, the machine takes responsibility for keeping your stitches a consistent length while you concentrate on your quilting designs.
Vision Software Upgrade Policy
All software upgrades or updates released prior to February 11, 2012 will be completely free to owners who purchase a machine after February 11, 2010, provided revisions are downloaded from the internet. Alternatively, if a Vision owner chooses to add the software updates via a requested SD memory card, there will be a small nominal charge for the card and shipping.
Sew What? You can rest assured knowing that for two years from the Gammill Vision introduction date, there will be FREE upgrades to the Vision software.
New Advanced Stitch Regulation Technology
Provides you with the ability to adjust parameters beyond stitches per inch such as stitch regulator responsiveness, coast speed and coast threshold.
Sew What? Provides you with the capability to adjust stitch regulator performance and handling characteristics as your confidence level, experience and personal needs change. An additional benefit of Advanced Stitch Regulation Technology is that the machines are notably quieter than machines without this technology.
Moving Too Fast Alarm
Let’s you know if you are moving the machine too fast to get even length regulated stitches.
Sew What? Ensures that you will have the nice even length stitches that customers’ quilt judges and you expect on your quilts.
Coast Regulated Stitching
When you reduce the speed you are moving the machine the stitch regulator slows down accordingly until a preselected low speed threshold is reached then the system automatically leaves the regulated stitching mode to constantly stitch at the constant speed you preselected. Should you start to increase your speed of movement beyond the selected low speed threshold, the system automatically enters stitch regulated operation again delivering a precise number of stitches per inch.
Sew What? Many experienced machine operators are finding that this feature makes precise stitching even easier when moving from large designs to small tight designs and then on again to larger ones. Quilters are also finding that coast regulated stitching makes it easier or smoother to move the machine in and then out of points in their designs. We like to compare it to coasting through a stop sign with your car rather than making a complete stop. Your ride is much smoother when you coast through a stop…. provided an officer isn’t watching the intersection.
Larger Quilting Area
The actual quilting area is the available work space under the machine arm to be quilted before having to advance the fabric.
Vision 22-10- 18.2
Vision 26-10- 21.5”
Vision 30-12 - 24.5"
Sew What? The Gammill machines offer the largest quilting area in the industry. With a larger quilting area you will be able to see and quilt more of the quilt each time the quilt is advanced on the roller system. Simply stated, a larger quilting area allows you to be more efficient.
Throat Space
Is the space from the back of the hopping (presser) foot to the deepest part of the “U”-shaped bend that connects the upper and lower arms of the machine. As the quilt is finished and rolled up on the pick-up roller the quilt roll gets larger and larger. Ample throat space is needed to provide space for this quilt rolled up while still allowing the machine to be moved far enough to do a large design. Throat space dimensions for the Gammill Deluxe line machines:

Vision - 22" x 10"
Vision- 26" x 10"
Vision- 30" x 12"
Sew What? As machine throat space gets larger so does quilting area and the size of the designs you can sew all the way through to the bottom of the quilt.
Baste Regulated Stitching
Allows you to select and set the machine to be moved a specific number of inches before delivering a stitch. Also know as: “Inches per Stitch”.
Sew What? The machine now delivers each basting stitch at exactly the frequency that you want them. You no longer have to repetitively press the single stitch button to baste.
Tie off Feature
At the touch of a Vision screen icon the machine does six quick tie off stitches.
Sew What? The tie off stitches used to secure a line of stitching can be completed much more quickly than the older conventional way of pushing the machines single stitch button several times. This minimizes the size of the tie off and makes it practically invisible.
Stitch Monitor
A camera shows a real time image of the stitching on the back of your quilt on the Vision display screen. The camera can be adjusted at the Vision display screen for light level, contrast and brightness.
Sew What? You will no longer have to us a mirror or climb under the machine to look at the back of the quilt. Since this makes it easy to monitor stitch quality on the back of the quilt it reduces the likelihood that a stitch problem will go unnoticed for long which ultimately means you will have to frog (rip out) stitches way less!
FM Radio
With tuner, volume control, and ability to preset to your favorite stations.
Sew What? You can select and listen to the radio programming that you like right at your machine.
Diagnostics
Right on the Vision display screen make it easy to check switches, test encoder signals and the sensors for the needle up and down positions – you can even recalibrate your stitch regulator.
Sew What? Makes it easy for you or a technician providing phone support to assist you in the analysis and correction of problems so that we get your machine back in service quickly.
Run in Reverse
At a touch of the Vision screen the machine will run in reverse to ensure lubricating oil is distributed evenly over moving parts critical to non binding rotation of the machine.
Sew What? Keeps your machine running smoothly and quietly just like a new one!
System Calibration
Runs the machine at 4-speeds measuring the time it takes for the machine to complete each stitch and then evaluates whether the machine needs oil.
Sew What? Provides you with relevant feedback on whether you are oiling the machine at the proper frequency and with the proper volume of oil given your unique quilting style and duration of each quilting session.
Current Stitch Count
Records the number of stitches the machine takes. Allows you to set the counter to zero at the beginning of a project and then record the number of stitches it took to complete the project.
Sew What? Provides interesting data for the quilt maker that can also be used for machine quilting service price justification.
Optional Extra Work Station/Work Station Templates
Allow you to easily guide the machine using templates in a variety of designs. Currently there are 5 extra templates available with patterns on both sides. $69/template or bundled 5-pack for $295 (a $50 savings)
Sew What? You can use these templates to precisely place a design on a quilt and then further embellish it with free motion quilting.

Sew What? The Large Gam Guide will help you to do the long lines or cross hatching that are so often seen and are very popular and striking in whole cloth quilts and in quilts with embroideries or cross stitching.
Optional Leaders with Zippered Edges
Allow the leading edge on the three roller bars with canvas leaders to be zipped on/off. $295
Sew What? Leaders with extra sets of edges allow you to check your tension, quickly change between projects, sit and pin your quilt to the leaders and make it easier to share the machine with another person.
Optional Extra Zippered Edges
$75
Sew What? If you desire to share the use of your machine with a group of friends or you characteristically have a lot of UFOs (unfinished objects) on hand, extra zippered edges are really nice to have. You can keep the incomplete quilts on a set of leader edges and load a new quilt on another set. Further, some of our most productive customers will use time away from their quilting machine(s) to pin quilts onto extra sets of zippered edges so when they are back with their machine the quilt loading time from one quilt project to the next is shorter thus increasing their productive sewing time.
Optional Alignment Mat - $195/Drafting Chair - $195
Sew What? These two components make it easier for you to sit and quilt at the front of the quilting frame and then efficiently move left or right while staying a comfortable distance from your frame and machine
Optional Extended Throat Plate – 23” Long

Sew What? It fits right on your stand top and allows you to use your stand top as a convenient large cutting surface. No need to buy or a lot precious studio space for a cutting table
Optional Hydraulic Height Adjustment (HHA)
At the touch of a button, four hydraulic cylinders will raise or lower the quilting stand. $1,695
Sew What? Hydraulic Height Adjustment makes it easy to change the stand height to fit any operator plus it can provide for fast relief of the strain or fatigue resulting from holding your body being in one position for an extended length of time.
Optional Stand-alone Bobbin Winder
Used to fill either M or L bobbins (please specify bobbin size when ordering). $89.95
Sew What? This allows you to quickly pre-wind bobbins when you only have one cone of thread or when you want to prepare bobbins for your next project ahead of time.
Optional Overhead Light Bar $795
Sew What? The light bar provides an inviting warm look, while giving you a proper amount of light where you need it - over your quilt.
Optional AQ Overhead Light Bar
A stressed steel arch with two sets of 4’ florescent lights. $495
Sew What? A brighter full spectrum light.
Optional Stencil Kit (Plexiglass Pieces)
Used for stitching patterns in individual quilt blocks. These pieces help to hold paper “block” patterns in place on the quilt top so they can be precisely traced and sewn out with the stylaser.

Sew What? This package results in a savings of $730 when compared to the cost of purchasing these items individually.
More Accurate Fabric Tauting System
Each fabric handling roller contains gears with forty-two adjustments (or stops) per revolution for the most precise adjustment possible when providing tautness to the fabric.
Sew What? Proper fabric tautness can affect the quality of the locking stitch. It is also essential to have proper fabric stability to make the precise patterns desired by today’s quilters and obtain the perfect look of your quilted project
Variable Stroke Hopping Foot
Raises and lowers with the movement of the needle to press and release the fabric as the stitch is formed. Further, you can adjust how high the foot hops.
Sew What? The hopping action reduces the drag of the foot so your machine moves easily across the fabric.
Constant Speed Mode
Constant Speed Mode – means that the machine sews at a selected constant motor speed.
Sew What? Sew what? At a slow speed (around 5 – 8%) you can use it for basting and squaring up the edges of your quilt top. At slightly higher speeds you can efficiently do background fillers such as stippling. We have found that some of our most experienced production focused customers use the highest speeds to do “free hand overall” patterns and the fabric pattern outlining that is commonly done in decorator work rooms on comforters and bed spreads.
Electronic Two Station Needle Positioner
Two Station Electronic Needle Positioner - This feature allows you to have a needle up/needle down comparable to your domestic sewing machine. You control whether to have the needle stop in the up or down position.
Sew What? Sew what? Using the down position, allows you to stop sewing and walk away from your machine while holding your place on the quilt top.
Single Stitch/Manual Basting Stitch
Single Stitch/Manual Basting Stitch – At each push of the left control button the machine will fire a single stitch.
Sew What? Sew what? With the push of a single button you can quickly and accurately place 3 stitches to secure your quilting and prevent it from unraveling. Further, this button can be pushed to place basting stitches wherever you want them.
Double Capacity (M) Bobbin
Double Capacity (M) Bobbin – holds at least twice the length of thread as a domestic sewing machine (L) bobbin.
Sew What? Sew what? Although “M” style bobbins will run out of bobbin thread, you will do so half as frequently as you would with an “L” style bobbin.
Built-on-Bobbin Winder
Built-on-Bobbin Winder - The built-on bobbin winder refills bobbins while the machine is sewing. It is also used to pre-fill bobbins before sewing. No need to purchase an extra stand alone bobbin winder.
Sew What? Sew what? With two cones of thread, you can use one to sew with and the other to wind bobbins while you sew. That way, you always have a bobbin ready when yours runs out.
LED Light Fixture
LED Light Fixture - The new LED light fixture illuminates the needle area with a brighter light than a florescent bulb, and has a toggle switch to change to a black light.
Sew What? Sew what? The brighter LED light allows you to clearly see your sewing area and with the flip of a switch also have a black light that may be used to illuminate stencil powders or special markings on your quilt top.
Externally mounted motor
Externally mounted motor – motor is securely mounted on the top rear portion of the machine casting.
Sew What? Sew what? With the motor mounted externally it cools better so it will have a longer service life.
Heavy Duty Automotive Steel Shaft Bearings and Steel Oil-lite Bushings
Heavy Duty Automotive Steel Shaft Bearings and Steel Oil-lite Bushings. Under the light torque loads of a quilting machine automotive bearings will last for a lifetime of daily use. In addition, steel bushings are known to last 5 times longer than brass bushings.
Sew What? Sew what? You can quilt as much as you want assured that you’re that your machine is built to last.
Centralized lubrication system
Centralized lubrication system is a series of oil lines that run inside the casting distributing the oil necessary to protect moving parts from wear.
Sew What? Sew what? This keeps the oil inside the machine and away from your quilt.
Gear/Shaft Power Transfer
Gear/Shaft Power Transfer on Classic, Optimum and Supreme models is the means by which the rotation of the machine top shaft is synchronously transferred to the rotation of the lower shaft. Within the longarm industry there are two types of shaft power transfer – belt drive and direct drive. The machining processes for the installation of a direct drive power transfer shaft require that the top and bottom shafts be in almost perfect alignment.
Sew What? Sew what? The advantage of the precise machining and shaft alignment of a direct drive power transfer system is that you will enjoy a machine that runs quietly with minimal vibration as well as has a more positive linkage between the top and bottom shaft keeping the machine in time and maximizing needle piercing power.
